RELATIONSHIP BEYOND THE CLASSROOM!!!

By Mrs Neela Krishnamurthy

Education is shared commitment between dedicated teachers, motivated students and enthusiastic parents with high expectations.__Bob Beauprex.
This quote is very true, indisputable and very apt. A dedicated, diligent and caring teacher would try to develop a good rapport with the parents by encouraging parental involvement in the academics, giving positive response on the performance, behavior and aptitude of the students.
The beginning of the school year is the best time to develop this relationship because the parents would not have pre notion about the teachers .The teachers should be always cordial and make the parents comfortable to express their views and make them feel that their opinions are invaluable and incomparable to enhance the academic performance of the students.
Teachers should have face to face conversation to avoid miscommunication and misunderstanding. They should never break the ice by complaining about the students. In fact they should ask the parents about their students likes, dislikes and give a patient ear to what the parents have to say about their children.
A positive relationship between them go a long way in contributing to the students success.
Teachers on the other hand get information about their students their home environment, likes and dislikes and aspirations from the people who knows them the best. These information enable the teachers to connect with , motivate and mould a child’s personality.

The students in the other hand will get higher grades, attend school regularly, motivated and develop key social and emotional skills such as self awareness, relationship building and decision making.
In a nutshell cordial relationship opens communication and collaboration between parents and teachers create opportunities for the teens to develop social emotional and academic skills.
